Alaska Fishing Trips

Alaska fishing trips

Arguably, the world’s best fishing locations can be found in the Last Frontier. Most people just call this wild, rugged place Alaska, the 49th state. But most outdoorsmen will tell you, Alaska fishing trips are what serious fishermen dream of. Also known as "The Land of Midnight," Alaska’s coastline is longer than any other state. Add to this 3.5 million lakes within the state of Alaska alone, and it’s no wonder the state’s main export is seafood and fishermen dream of visiting its rugged shores.

The "panhandle" of Alaska, where the state capital Juneau is located, is home to the state’s largest fishing industry. Because of this, the tourism industry has also found its way into this part of the state. However, if you want to stay "in the main," south central Alaska is going to be your best bet. Anchorage and many other towns are in this area, which boasts a large industry for tourism.

Vacationers will see large, full-color photos of happy fishermen holding up huge halibut, salmon, and trout when they try to plan their Alaska fishing trip. Serious anglers (fishermen) can find salt and freshwater specimens throughout Alaska. An Alaska fishing trip is one that will never be forgotten, but there are perhaps some Alaska fishing spots that are more desirable than others.

The famous Bristol Bay is known for its sportfishing, but only serious fishermen will want to attempt those waters. The Kenai River is famed for huge salmon sure to delight the imagination of any angler. The Kenai peninsula is famous for fishing and vacationers will have various resorts and lodges to choose from. Ling cod and rainbow trout are some of the species that can be captured on the Kenai peninsula, one of the most beautiful regions of the state.

An Alaska fishing trip is an unforgettable experience, and many anglers dream of one day enjoying such a vacation. Those who want to enjoy the famous Alaskan fishing should choose the best region to suit their abilities and needs, but also keep in mind that Alaska is the least-populated state. An area that boasts comfortable lodgings as well as famous fishing is going to be your best bet.
