HOME REMEDIES FOR GOUT, GOUT, GOUT MEDICATION, GOUT TREATMENT

According to medical sciences, when uric acid in our body crosses a certain limit, it will start to crystallize. These uric acid crystals accumulate in various joints of the body resulting in inflammation of the big toe. It also affects other body joints like heel, ankle, knee, fingers, wrist or elbow. Gout is characterized by sudden onset of extreme pain, as well as swelling and redness of the affected joint.

If you have got Gout, there is no need to dishearten because there are several ways to bid adieu to Gout and prevent further attacks. Here are a few ways –

THE FIRST AID WHEN GOUT ATTACK OCCURS
Gout attack may occur any time. If doctor help is not available and the pain is unbearable, NSAIDs (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Ibuprofen can be taken to get temporary relief from pain. Application of ‘anti-hemorrhoidal ointment preparation H’ on the affected area can reduce the swelling for a while.

ICING AND HEATING RELIEVES GOUT PAIN
For the ice magic, take some ice cubes and wrap them in a muslin cloth. Place the packs over the affected area and rub very smoothly and gently. If you do so, the area will be well hydrated and the pain gets reduced. Heat therapy involves using hot pads and taking hot baths. As it is said that Gout is caused by crystals of uric acid, heating helps in dissolution of the crystals, thus relieving pain.

PREVENTION OF GOUT ATTACK
No one knows that they have something to do with Gout unless or until they get the first Gout attack. So, once fallen for Gout, steps must be taken to prevent further attacks. There are three steps involved in the prevention of Gout:
1. Supply of purines must be reduced.
2. Uric acid crystals must be dissolved to make its way back to blood.
3. Uric acid from the blood must be excreted into the urine in large amount.

To achieve this, proper diet must be taken and some changes should be made to the lifestyle.

HOME REMEDIES FOR GOUT
Gout can be prevented by certain ingredients that are straight off from home. So, why rely on those chemical filled capsules?

Try some home remedies, some of which are cited below:
• Cherries dissolve uric acid crystals and has anti inflammatory properties that reduces the production of uric acid. This is the highly recommended home remedy for Gout. So, eat as many cherries as you can.
• Intake of caffeine for a long period prevents Gout. So, stick to a cup or two a day.
• Drink eight glasses of water a day, as water dilutes uric acid.
• Add raisins and ginger milk to your daily diet.
• Eat food that includes generous helpings of fruits, vegetables, cheese, eggs, cereals and dairy products.
• Avoid alcohol, fish, curd, meat, offal, sweet breads and sardines.
• Take half tea spoon of baking soda dissolved in water. It helps in dissolving uric acid crystals.
• In a basin, blend half cup of charcoal powder with water and make a paste. Keep your feet on it. Add water to dilute the paste until the solution covers the affected area. Stay for one hour.
• Mix charcoal powder and well blended flax seeds. Place the mix over the affected joints and wrap it up with a cloth. Leave overnight and get considerable relief.
• Foods rich in Vitamin A lower the levels of uric acid.

DOs AND DON’Ts
• Avoid taking an afternoon nap.
• Don’t roam in the hot sun.
• Avoid sports that involve lot of joint movements.
• Exercise regularly and keep your body fit.

Follow the right diet, adhere to a good lifestyle and stay away from Gout.
