Admitted that we live in a world full of stress, anxiety, fear, and the rest of it. Admitted that most of what you see are grumpy faces showing frustration but we can decide to be like the kettle though up to its nose in hot water continues to have a cheerful disposition. This isn't another article filled with Pollyanna theories, what you are about to read are my personal experiences.
As a little boy, I have had my shares of life's ups and downs(believe it or not) one thing that kept me on was the spirit of humour. I was disappointed by my boss before a sales outing as he refused my partner to tag along with me during an outing. The resut was that I hardly sold a thing due to my sad countenance, I walked into a friend's house and had the best of time as cracked jokes, listened to music and had the best of times. I felt a new surge of energy pump into me, I felt I was once dead but the buttons of humour brought me back to life. People it's time laugh again. In a sermon, a man of God said, 'Be firm! Be fair! Be fun!' A drop of honey attracts more flies than a gallon of gall. I know how trying it is earning a living, paying the bills, put food on the table, pay school fees, pay taxes and a long list of other duties and obligations, just don't forget to keep a holy humour. Comedian Victor Borge was so right when he said, 'Laughter is the shortest distance between two people'. A smile is a curve that makes us see things straightly. Physicians say laughter helps speed up the process of healing when a patient has been down with an ailment. It takes 63-72 facial muscles to frown and 14-16 to smile.
Back to my days growing up, where I worked was and still is the most fun filled place on earth. Being with eight of the world's most humurous boys is one of the greatest memories I would always cherish. Even when we had no money in our pockets, we would go into neighbouring orchards to pluck mangoes, apples and other fruits which we would consume in a humorous atmosphere easing the stress of poor power supply, poor customer patronage and a whole lot of other challenges we faced. I may not have had as rough and tough as you but believe me, I have been there. Folks it's time to watch the funny acts of Bill Cosby or the mouth miracles of Jimmy'JJ'Walker or the comic genius of Jay Leno, Art Linkletter and other comedians. It's time to share good times with families and friends because happiness is like potato salad when shared with others it becomes a picnic. If you're stressed out think of what Arnold Glasow said when he mused that, 'Laughter is a tranquilizer with no side effects'. People it's time to get not just our groove but our humour on. A laugh a day will keep both negative people and situations away. Let's get back to the laughing board where we can sit back, relax and plan for the next working day.
Friends, it's time to be children again, it's time to enjoy ourselves as someone said, 'Life is a journey meant to be enjoyed and not endured'. It's time to pour the oil of humour back into our rusty bodies. Fear and worry are interest paid in advance for things we will never own. People it's time to bring back the lost sunshine to our lives, it's time to splash in the puddles the rain left behind. It's time to laugh again.
