Peoria New Truck Options: 2010 GMC Terrain

You may be thinking, “Oh, no. Not another crossover.” And if you are thinking that, you would be correct. The GMC Terrain is a vehicle that is finally not just another crossover. Pairing a robust exterior design with exemplary fuel economy, the Terrain is really a rebel for a good cause in its segment.

I like the exterior design of the Terrain. The most noticeable feature is its strapping fender design. The fenders are different, and different design is a good thing as long as it fits within a well-planned design. These fenders do. Unlike other crossovers out there, the Terrain is a hearty vehicle that keeps you thinking along the SUV line by leaving no impression of minivan styling. The grille is an eye-drawing element, an impressive combination of sophistication, attitude and science.

The Terrain does not drop the ball on its interior either, implementing a cabin that features a stylish floating center stack, smart-looking gauges, and a lot of shiny accents that complete the ruggedly elegant ambiance. Storage became a focus for GMC with the Terrain’s interior design. Storage spaces are everywhere, and the center console is big enough for a laptop. Back seat space is made comfortable and flexible, as the seats are able to slide eight inches forward or back. Then there is the red ambient lighting and red stitching all over to compliment the design, giving the cabin an exclusive, hospitable atmosphere.

The 2010 GMC Terrain boasts a plethora of standard features, including: rearview camera; electronic stability control; OnStar; XM satellite radio; and dual front and side-curtain air bags. The vehicle will also have a tow rating of up to 3500 lbs. A dual-screen DVD system is optional for the rear-seat, and the mobile internet system that recently became available on the 2009 Cadillac CTS will likely appear as on option on the 2010 Terrain. A power rear liftgate, an eight-speaker premium audio/navigation system with a seven-inch main display, a 40-gigabyte hard drive, and USB and Bluetooth connectivity make up some of the other appealing options.
Peoria new truck shoppers will be able to choose from two available engines on the Terrain. The 2.4-liter direct injection four-cylinder engine will have a fuel economy of 30 mpg thanks in part to the vehicle’s button-activated “ECO” mode, which lowers the torque converter lockup speed in a fuel-saving effort.

The Terrain’s rack-mounted electric power steering also contributes to better fuel efficiency and is said to save about 11 miles per tank of gas. The other engine is a 3.0-liter direct injected V-6, which provides more horsepower but is less fuel-efficient.
The Terrain sets itself apart by combining an incredibly design-forward interior, an attractive and daring exterior and fuel economy better than many sedans. When this ride hits the market, it will be the best combination of fuel efficiency and luxury available, unless you can afford an $80,000 import.

Expected to be priced around $25,000 starting out, the 2010 Terrain is one of the more intriguing options in the crossover segment. Combine its fuel economy with creative storage and style, and the Terrain should prove a very popular vehicle when it hits Peoria car dealers this year.
