Power Pray: What We Need in Troubled Times

Is your life in the desert stage? You feel alone, abandoned, forsaken in a vast desert of emptiness, dryness, nothing but blistering sun and sands with no sound nor sight of life.

Is your personal life overburdened by problems, anxieties, failures, misfortunes, frustrations, self-pity, treacheries?

Are you beset by the problems of this world? Financial --- overdue debts, demand letters, disconnection notices, school, hospital and doctors fees (that continue to rise up like thermometer in summer? Relationship --- family, marital, children, friends, co-workers, bosses, love-life;

What about your personal life? Health --- terminal cancer, life threatening heart diseases, surging blood pressures, uncontrollable cholesterol, deadly diabetes and what have you; Work --- impending termination, inadequate income, peer pressure, stress, tension, fatigue, boredom.

So what do you do now? Is there no hope of overcoming these problems and predicaments? As a Christian of course the first recourse is to pray. Yes [pray and ask the Lord’s help. So in the midst of the desert expanse you pray for water, a well or a spring in the rock just as the Israelites asked Moses. No, but why don’t ypu pray for rain instead? No, of course not,! Why not? Because, you know that rain in the desert is as rare a phenomenon as whales in the Nile, in other words, almost impossible! So you pray for the usual, the common, the ordinary. But even a well or spring is hard to come by, and no matter how you pray. And then an idea flashes into your mind that maybe your prayer is wrong; so you pray instead to the Lord to guide you to an oasis or to lead you out of the desert into the pasture land, into a village. But soon you come to your senses that your prayers are useless; the Lord is not listening, God is as silent as the desert itself. So you wail and try to question God. You shout with your remaining strength, ”Where are you God? Why have you abandoned me?” Then, you translate your questions into declarative statement, Lord, you have forsaken me! You are not an answering God!”

You pray and pray and pray, still no answer, until you get tired of praying and slowly you start to give up on God. Why? Because God is unable to give you the ordinary and common things you have been asking?
And what about your spiritual life? Unfortunately, more often than not, like everyone else this is the least of your concern or may even be none of your concern anymore. Don’t be shocked by this statement, because, sad to say but true, most people (myself included) are willing to forego their spiritual life just so they can find material solutions to the conditions cited above. This spiritual lapse sometimes is an unconscious attitudinal reaction of some people, but to others this is a deliberate move thinking that the cause of all the above-cited problems and predicaments is their spiritual relationship with God. Both of these cases though are natural to a person, Christians and non-Christians. The Bible is replete with incidents of these two cases.

When you are in the unconscious attitudinal stage of spiritual lapse prayers are no longer part of your life, no longer a solution to all your problems; and you start to drift away from the care and saving grace of God. When you reach this spiritual dislocation of your life, you are now ready to disconnect your relationship with the Lord; you are now willing to yield to the works of the devil. You don’t want to pray anymore. You lose your faith in prayer and worst your faith in God.

Think again. Let’s go back to the previous paragraph where you suddenly think that maybe your prayer is wrong! Aha, you’re right! But the solution you chose is not right either. It’s not what you pray or what you’re asking but rather the way you pray. Your prayer has no power, no luster, no subtlety, no novelty, no finesse It’s so traditional that like in basketball game your move can be readily read and anticipated by the opponents that your ball is easily intercepted and your shots are blocked. Similarly, in prayer, if our prayers are made in a traditional and common way, then the evil forces of Satan can easily read your prayers and easily intercept them, thus unable to reach heaven. Remember, Satan is the greatest thief and the wiliest deceiver. So what you need is to make a power play like in basketball game, but this time it is Power Pray that you have to do.

What is Power Pray? It is a sort of prayer packed with dynamites of power that no devil can blocked, thwart or intercept. It is a science, scientific move. It is forceful and unexpected move in prayer that Satan team cannot read and anticipate. There are many ways to Power Pray, but there only twelve basic ways to Power Pray that we have to master. From these twelve there are many variations and combinations that we can make. These twelve (12) basic ways to Power Pray are described in a separate article.
