Race does not Hold an Endowment for the true Meaning of a Family

race, family, endowmnet, meaning, mixed family, racial identity, society, racism, ethnicity

Know yourself for who you are not by your skin color

So, you’ve broken away from the standard norm. Some of those who consider themselves on the straight and narrow path want to point stupidly at you with your significant other or just openly bash your lifestyle in public. You say to yourself, ‘Who do they think they are?’

The issue here is people are people period. It is such a shame to pretend when the truth is evident and has been right in front of our faces all along. Race plays an enormous role in every aspect of our lives but it doesn’t have to dignify who we are and it doesn’t have to hold us down. Mixed race couples just have all the racism garbage thrown at them more brazenly than others, and it comes from all four corners, white, black, Hispanic, Indian; everyone has a hint of racism in them whether they want to admit to it or not. Blinded by color, (as I term racism in my life) is something I’ve dealt with for well over a decade now. The question that keeps rearing up in my mind is, “Why?” What is it about color that seems to awaken fear and resentment in otherwise normal everyday people? What difference does it make anyway? Being a specific color doesn’t change the individual on the inside; we are all still one in the same, right? Brothers and sisters born of the same blood. Many don’t want to view it in that kind of symbolic light though. White, black, red, yellow, mulatto or apartheids, it makes no significant points. The only meaning the color of a persons’ skin holds is what society has labeled it to be.

There isn’t one color in the world that is smarter, faster, stronger or living life more thoroughly than anyone else. Mixed race people have to realize that color will always exist, long after we are gone. It is something that brings vibrancy to life! Why do you think there are so many variable colors in the Crayola brand box of 96? Many of those colors had to be blended to perfect a brand new and unique individual crayon.

That’s exactly what mixed races do and the beauty they bring forth is something to be proud of not apprehensive to claim. Every color in this world has its own beauty to its name just as each individualized person. No one can ever replace you. So, if you’re an individual from a mixed relationship or an interracial couple in love; the next time you look in the mirror don’t feel sadness or question the color you see there. Embrace who you are for all that you are because there will never be another face on this earth that is exactly like your own. Be proud to be different and accept it with your whole heart!

So racism exists you say, so what? Racism doesn’t have to dictate your life to you; hate doesn’t have to be in your world. You place in your life what you want to be there, words aren’t forever but you are. Live your life for how you want to live it, with all the happiness you can find. Don’t live for how society views you, after all they are people with choices to make in their own lives as well.
