The Advantages of Working From Home

work, home-based, work from home,

Monday morning. The shrill ringing of the alarm jolts you awake. You groan, switch it off, lie in bed for a few minutes more, wishing it wasn’t time to get up already, then finally drag yourself to the bathroom, brush your teeth, have a shower and set about getting ready for work. While in the process of deciding what to wear, you realize you are running terribly late and have to leave in ten minutes, in order to meet the ten o’ clock deadline. You become a whirlwind of activity, getting ready as fast as you can - leaving clothes strewn about everywhere, deciding you’ll settle the place later, when you get home from work - and just about make it in time, when you realize that you have forgotten the all-important report you stayed up half the night composing. You rush back, take it and dash out of your apartment. On the way, you grab a Starbucks, and hurry to work. You reach your office at 10:10. You are marked late……again!

Now picture this, it’s Monday morning, you wake up late, laze around for a while, do a bit of yoga, water the plants, eat a relaxed breakfast and finally start composing reports or assigning duties, or writing articles in your study. Which scenario would you prefer to be in? The former or the latter?

Working from home has many advantages, there is no strict schedule to follow, you can work at your own pace, take a break whenever you need one and most importantly, you have a great deal of freedom to make various decisions. Moreover, there is no need to put yourself together to look presentable, early in the morning, a pair of old jeans and a loose tee shirt will do just fine! Besides, you are saved the trouble of driving all the way to work during rush hour.

For introverts, working at home is the best option. It gives them the privacy that they so desire – no need to socialize with annoying colleagues or to go for drinks after work. Moreover, there is no hawk’s eye of the boss following your every move, waiting for you to make a mistake so that he can pounce on you.

Most importantly, you can be close to your family, while still working, which, I personally feel is a very, very big bonus. That way, you shall not be neglecting you family and at the same time you will be able to get your work done. Of course , you have to ensure that your assignments are completed on time.

A variety of endeavors can be undertaken, such as freelance writing, a home based business, teaching, consultancy, web page designing, software development, practicing medicine, transcription and a host of other things. Therefore, you can turn your home based business into a lucrative, profitable one.

The advantages of working from home over working at an office far outweigh the disadvantages. It is always a better option to work at home, adding to the family coffers, and having the mental satisfaction of being an earning member, while at the same time, not neglecting family.

About the author or the publisher
I have been an avid reader ever since I was a child and as a consequence, this gave me a decent grasp of the English language. As a child I took to writing because I found that it was the best way to express myself. My penchant for writing continued I started writing in ‘Voices’ – a supplement of ‘The Statesman’, the School Magazine and for pleasure.
I want to take this golden opportunity to write and earn a bit of money at the same time.
