THE GLOBALIZATION

IT revolution, Globalization

It is generally known that a revolution is accompanied by changes in resource distribution.IT revolution is not different in this aspect from any other revolution. The sudden growth in the small car segment and consumerism, fast food restaurants, partying, picnics and tourism can be rightly attributed to the IT revolution. The other notable changes are adoption of five day weeks, flexible timings and definite change in work culture with more emphasis on formation of teams and groups. It is nearly impossible to look at an IT worker as an Individual.which ever company campus you visit there may be a SAS team,a POS team or a system integration team but not individuals. In general,an IT worker does not exist as an individual. This change in work culture is a definite migration From the past where in all kind of jobs the tasks were assigned to individuals.

IT revolution has had considerable impact on the society and has to some extent led to restructuring of the same..stress on academic success is higher than ever before.Too much importance is being given to scoring high marks and grades consistently, and as far as being observed for many many companies that alone is the criteria for recruiting personnel. No other aspect is given as much consideration as this. One wonders if anything else needs to done to suppress enterprise, innovation and creativity. As a result we see that at least for some sections and in some places academic achievements of that kind means more social influence than the rest. There is lesser emphasis on service orientation which is in stark contrast with developed countries ,where an average citizen is more service minded than materialistic.Believe me,I’m not a social historian.People at restaurants, cinema halls, parks, railway stations, and other public places discuss more about academics, stock prices, and H1B’s than about gulf war, terrorism and budget.Any public gathering barring political seminars and meetings tends to create a college like atmosphere.

Conclusions
------------------
*It had it’s beginnings as an industry with little impact on economy.
*IT revolution has brought about a lot of changes in India, most important one being the rise in economy levels.
*It induced certain social changes.
*The industry is big but there are no quality offerings.
Therey IT revolution could be best remembered for the social and organizational changes that it trigerred than for anything else.
